"Mumbai International Cruise Terminal Set for 2024 Completion, Announces CM Shinde"

In an address at the Global Maritime India Summit inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra's Chief Minister provided insights into the upcoming Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (ICT). According to the CM, this state-of-the-art terminal will be ready to welcome visitors in 2024, boasting a remarkable capacity to accommodate 200 cruise ships and serve one million passengers annually.

Expanding on Maharashtra's substantial maritime advantages, the CM emphasized the state's 720-kilometer coastline, two major ports, over 14 major and intermediate ports, and various bays, all of which play pivotal roles in advancing India's maritime trade.

The CM highlighted the state's commitment to developing comprehensive multimodal connectivity, including roads, railways, sea, and waterways infrastructure, to support private ports. He noted that Maharashtra's maritime policy will have a transformative impact on maritime tourism, shipbuilding, repair, and recycling industries, attributing this progress to the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Modi, which have elevated India's standing on the global maritime stage.

Moreover, the CM shared notable achievements in the maritime sector, including a significant increase in cargo volume during the 2022-2023 period and the introduction of new routes for passenger transport services. He also praised the performance of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, ranking as one of the best-performing ports in India and one of the top 30 global ports. Furthermore, he noted that the Mumbai Port Authority offers the best and most competitive cruise tariffs globally.

To commemorate the 150-year legacy of the Mumbai Port Authority, Governor Ramesh Bais unveiled a special postage stamp. Additionally, a book titled 'Propelling India's Maritime Vision' was launched to mark this momentous occasion.
