Tarin insists to enhance Pakistan-Iran economic ties

Islamabad: Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance, Shaukat Tarin stressed the need for enhancing Pakistan-Iran economic ties, saying that the existing level of relations were not equal to political relations the two countries were enjoying.

Shaukat Tarin, who is visiting Iran to participate in the 3rd ministerial conference of the ministers of Economic Co-operation Organisation (ECO), told journalists in Tehran that he would explore ways to enhance these relations during his meetings with the Iranian officials.

The adviser said in a message received from Pakistan Embassy in Tehran. The adviser briefed the media representatives on the economic situation in Pakistan, particularly with regard to investment-friendly environment in the country. He also apprised the media persons of the measures adopted by the government of Pakistan to offset the adverse implications of the current global financial crunch for Pakistan's economy.

The adviser highlighted Pakistan's Economic Stabilisation Programme, containing 9-Point Economic Reforms Agenda, which has been shared with global financial institutions for forthcoming support.
