MNRE Reaffirms June 2026 Deadline for ALMM-Listed Solar PV Cells.
The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) announced on Monday that the Approved List of Models & Manufacturers (ALMM) mandate for solar photovoltaic (PV) cells will proceed as planned, taking effect from June 1, 2026. This decision provides clarity to the burgeoning solar sector, reaffirming the government's commitment to quality and domestic manufacturing.
The ALMM mechanism is a crucial initiative designed to bolster the reliability of solar PV producers, safeguard consumer interests, and enhance India's broader energy security. By establishing a stringent list of approved models and manufacturers, the government aims to ensure that only high-quality solar components are utilized in projects across the country.
This measure has played a significant role in accelerating the growth of India's indigenous solar manufacturing industry. The country now boasts a substantial capacity of 91 gigawatts (GW) for solar PV modules and 27 GW for solar PV cells, a testament to the policies supporting local production.
The confirmation of the June 2026 deadline for solar PV cells provides a clear roadmap for manufacturers and developers, allowing them to prepare for the upcoming regulatory change.
