MIR Group Chooses Mangaluru for New Manufacturing Facility.

Italy-based MIR Group is planning to invest around €20 million to set up a manufacturing facility in Mangaluru for the production of energy-efficient building materials, including Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) panels, thermal insulation materials and sodium-ion batteries.

Addressing media persons in Mangaluru recently, Sai Chandu, Sustainability Head at MIR Group, said the company intends to invest the amount over the next three years to establish its plant at Mangalore Special Economic Zone Ltd (MSEZL).

On the proposed production capacity, he said the Mangaluru unit is expected to manufacture around 1.5 million square metres of BIPV panels annually. In the first year of operations, the company plans to produce about 250,000 square metres of the panels.

The facility is aimed at catering to the growing demand for sustainable and energy-efficient construction solutions in domestic and international markets.
