Medical institute to come up in Masula.

The State government has sanctioned additional 150 beds for the government hospital in the town and in all likelihood, a medical institute will come up in the Krishna district headquarters. 'As part of developing health infrastructure, additional 150 beds will soon be added to the hospital. All the necessary procedures to introduce medicine course here have already been completed,' Excise and B.C. Welfare Minister Kollu Ravindra said after taking part in the Hospital Development Committee meeting recently .

The Minister also asked to the members of the HDC headed by Collector M. Raghunandan Rao to prepare a report for construction of an additional building on the hospital premises which is likely to house a medical institute. The building is expected to have a hostel meant for students pursuing nursing course at the hospital. 'If everything goes well, the hospital will get a medical institute within a year, offering medicine course,' Mr. Ravindra told The Hindu.

The HDC members were also told to take measures on a war footing for construction of the new building and other facilities.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the number of out-patients per day has gone down from nearly 1,500 to 1,000. The public representatives also appealed to the doctors to put a check on the case referral rate.
