Kochi Metro and DMRC signs MoU

The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have finally signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for implementing the project.

According to the agreement, in consonance with conditions set by the Centre while sanctioning the project, DMRC will execute the project under the financial and technical supervision of KMRL. If DMRC wants to make any significant changes to norms prescribed by KMRL, it will have to get prior concurrence from the project owner.

KMRL will also appoint independent safety and quality auditors to ensure the quality of the work done by DMRC. A project steering committee, comprising managing directors of both Metro agencies, will function as a primary forum for reviewing project progress and settling disputes related to the work. In case the committee fails to settle issues, the matter will be presented before an appellate committee consisting of secretary, the ministry of urban development, as well as the managing directors.
