KCR Wants Three More Barrages Built on Godavari.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed irrigation officials to construct three more barrages on Godavari river to provide water to the proposed Kaleswaram and Tummidi Hatti barrages, and the Devadula project.

Rao held a review meeting with his cabinet colleagues and irrigation experts at his camp office recently.

'For providing water to the proposed barrage at Kaleswaram and also Tummi Hatti and Devadula projects, another barrage should be constructed at Kottur. For lifting water to the Yellampalli project, two more barrages need to be built,' the chief told the officials.

Stating that works on canals, tunnels, lifts and reservoirs should be taken up simultaneously, he asked the officials to prepare an action plan for it.

'If possible, start the works this month-end itself,' he told them and said the action plan should be in such a manner that irrigation water should be provided to phase-I works by the monsoon season of 2017.

Asking the officials to be cautious about contractors who quote lower prices and stop works midway, Rao asked them to give 2 pc incentive to contractors who complete works in time.
