Hitachi Energy India Bags Bulk Transformer Order from PGCIL.

Hitachi Energy India announced recently that it has received a substantial order from the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for the supply of 30 units of 765-kilovolt (kV) 500 megavolt-ampere (MVA) single-phase transformers.

This significant order comes as India continues to prioritize building a sustainable, flexible, and secure grid, essential for achieving its ambitious energy transition goals. The nation's grid infrastructure needs to adapt to the increasing integration of renewable energy sources and the growing electrification of industries and transportation sectors.

The demand for power transformers in India has seen a notable surge, growing at an impressive 15 percent per year over the last two years. To effectively meet this escalating demand for grid infrastructure both domestically and globally, utilities are increasingly shifting from short-term, project-based planning to more comprehensive, longer-term program-based strategies. This bulk order from PGCIL underscores this evolving approach to grid development.
