Government Approves ₹1.7 Crore for Development of 15,000 km of Roads and Bridges.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has received financial approval for approximately ₹1,725 crore to construct around 15,000 kilometers of roads and to widen and build several new bridges across the state. This initiative was part of the projects announced in the state budget earlier this year. A PWD official confirmed that tenders for the work will be issued soon, with construction set to begin shortly.
Key projects that have received the necessary funding include a 34-kilometer road in Ajmer district, with an allocation of ₹30 crore, and a 36-kilometer road network in Alwar, budgeted at ₹35 crore. Additionally, 27.5 kilometers of roads in Banswara will be constructed at a cost of ₹35 crore, while 71 kilometers of roads in Sawai Madhopur will require ₹97 crore.
The PWD will also build a high-level bridge spanning 0.5 kilometers in Shahpura, Jahazpur, with an estimated cost of ₹15 crore. Further plans include 20.08 kilometers of roads and bridges in Udaipur for ₹30 crore, and another bridge over a river in Jalore, which will cost ₹19 crore.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumar, who oversees finance, tourism, and PWD, emphasized the government’s goal to make Rajasthan the top state in the country in terms of road infrastructure. "A robust road network will drive economic, social, and cultural development in the state," he stated.
