Foundry units yet to get land for park

Kolkata: The Indian Foundry Association is yet to receive the land acquired for the proposed foundry park.

Addressing the annual general meeting, S C Dugar, chairman, Indian Foundry Association said that the foundry park project was affected by the aftermath of Nandigram.

Dugar said, 77.93 acres acquired by West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) could not be handed over to the association.

“Negotiation channel for upward revision of prices had to be reopened resulting in not only additional outflow of money but delay of the entire proceedings,” he said.

However, Dugar also said that with cooperation of the district magistrate at Howrah and the land & land reforms department, landowners had started accepting payment.

The formalities were expected to be over by next month.
