Foundation stone of bridge laid

Karachi: City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal along with Nazim Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, Muhammad Wasey Jalil laid the foundation stone of a pedestrian bridge at Union Council-1, Shabbirabad, on Monday.

The 110-feet long and 10-feet wide bridge would be completed by January 2008 at the cost of Rs11 million. Nazim Jamshed Town, Javed Ahmad, Naib Naizm, Shoaib Akhtar and others were present on the occasion.

Addressing on the occasion, the city nazim said that the local government was carrying out development projects of billions of rupees for the welfare of the masses.

He said that a supply of six million gallons of water to Lyari Town, the construction of 48-kilometres Hab River-Hawkes bay Road and electrification to 36 villages falling in the limits of Karachi were the proof the local government is working for the welfare of citizens without any discrimination.

Briefing the city nazim, Nazim Gulshan-e-Iqbal town said that many uplift projects have been completed in this Union Council while the construction of a sports complex and a stadium continued. Meanwhile, the name of pedestrian bridge was attributed to the late Yousaf Bhai Waziri, Amil of Burhani Mosque.
