Foundation stone laid for health centre in Uruzgan province

Tirinkot: The foundation stone of a health centre has been laid in Uruzgan province. The health facility is being built in Sar Murghab area on the outskirts of the provincial capital, the health director said.

Dr. Khan Agha Miankhel said work on the centre would be completed in one year. The Australian-funded health centre is estimated to cost 700,000 US dollars.

With more than 20 rooms and necessary equipment, the centers creation will resolve health problems facing residents. The director cited a shortage of lady doctors and midwives in the province as a challenge they would try to meet.

Qudratullah, a resident of Sar Murghab, expressed happiness over the construction of the health centre in the area. He said they could not shift patients to far-off clinics for security reasons.
