EV Startup Raptee to Launch High-Voltage Electric Motorcycle by November.
After five years of research and development, Chennai-based EV startup Raptee is set to launch what it calls India’s first high-voltage electric motorcycle. The company aims to address a major hurdle for potential EV bike owners: a lack of adequate charging infrastructure. Raptee's new motorcycle, which is designed to deliver performance equivalent to a 250-300 cc internal combustion engine bike, is compatible with over 35,000 public car chargers across India.
Dinesh Arjun, co-founder and CEO of Raptee, confirmed to BusinessLine that the company has already secured more than 8,000 bookings for the new model. The high-voltage architecture is a key selling point, as it allows the motorcycle to use the widely available four-wheeler charging network, eliminating the need for a separate, dedicated charging infrastructure for two-wheelers.
Following a successful pilot program with 12 early adopters, Raptee is scheduled to begin full-scale deliveries by November. The initial rollout will focus on the cities of Chennai and Bengaluru before expanding to other locations. With its unique solution to the charging dilemma, Raptee is positioning itself to be a significant player in India's growing electric two-wheeler market.
