Essar Renewables Limited, the renewable energy arm of Essar Power, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NHPC Limited for a 300 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in Andhra Pradesh, involving an estimated investment of ₹4,500 crore.
The project will integrate solar and wind power generation with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to provide reliable, dispatchable renewable electricity. The agreement marks a significant milestone in advancing the existing project towards implementation.
The development forms part of Essar Power's strategy to establish a diversified 5 GW energy portfolio covering renewable, thermal and gas-based generation.
The project is expected to create opportunities for EPC contractors, solar and wind equipment suppliers, battery storage manufacturers and power infrastructure developers.
Essar Renewables has secured approximately 1 GW of renewable energy capacity through tenders awarded by NHPC and SJVN, strengthening its position in India's expanding clean energy sector.
