Drydock World, Cochin Shipyard to Set Up Ship Repair Clusters in Kochi and Vadinar.
In a move to boost India’s maritime infrastructure, Drydocks World—a DP World company—and Cochin Shipyard Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly explore the development of ship repair clusters in Kochi and Vadinar, Gujarat.
The partnership aims to create world-class maintenance and repair facilities, expand the ship repair industry, and generate employment opportunities across the maritime sector. According to a press release, the collaboration will leverage the strengths of both organisations to develop ship repair clusters along India’s coastline and bring global best practices into the country’s ship repair ecosystem.
The MoU also includes provisions for potential cooperation in offshore fabrication opportunities, involving major ports and other relevant entities to enhance capacity and capability in the sector.
