DHL launches LCL service
Bangalore: DHL has launched its direct Less than Container Load (LCL) Service from Ludhiana to Nhava Sheva. Before the introduction of this service, all LCL services were being routed via New Delhi.
This initiative will connect Ludhiana within the DHL global network from Nhava Sheva, considerably reducing the transit time and multiple handling of cargo.
This weekly service allows DHL customers to obtain their ‘Received for Shipment Bills of Lading’ at Ludhiana instead of waiting for handing over of the shipment at Delhi, thereby substantially reducing the wait period and increasing business efficiency. DHL Global Forwarding has also appointed private surveyors for monitoring cargoes at the inland container depots (ICD) at Ludhiana.
DHL Global Forwarding has also recently moved its Import LCL destination terminal from ICD Garhi Harsaru to ICD Tughlakabad, Delhi in response to customer requirements. This will offer LCL customers a better product in terms of facilities, distance and accessibility. This weekly fixed service is between Nhava Sheva and ICD Tughlakabad with DHL Global Forwarding having dedicated space within the ICD.
With the introduction of these services, DHL has further strengthened its ocean freight business supported by a broad product portfolio that includes customs clearance, transportation, projects and Full Container Load services.
