Centre Allocates ₹109 Crore for Vellore, Neyveli, and Salem Airports under UDAN Scheme.

The Centre has released ₹109 crore for the development of three airports in Tamil Nadu—₹59 crore for Vellore, ₹26 crore for Neyveli, and ₹24 crore for Salem—under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN).

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday that while Salem airport is already operational under the scheme, development at Neyveli and Vellore is complete, and licensing processes are underway under the modified UDAN framework.

The UDAN scheme aims to enhance airport infrastructure and improve air connectivity across India, particularly in remote and underserved regions.
