The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) is set to promote innovative startups that focus on sustainable and eco-friendly practices within the maritime sector, according to M. Angamuthu, VPA Chairperson.

Speaking at the Vizag Skill Sail 2025 - Skill Development Conclave, Angamuthu said the VPA would leverage initiatives from the Ministry of Ports to transform Vizag into a leading hub for maritime and skill development. He stated that the port's efforts are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

A Hub for Maritime and Skill Development

Angamuthu noted that NITI Aayog has recognized Visakhapatnam as a key growth hub in the port sector, with the state government providing full support for various initiatives.

The VPA has also committed to a major skill development push, with plans to train around 5,000 students annually, and an ambitious target of training 50,000 students by 2030 and 5 lakh students by 2047. The goal is to encourage the youth to become future entrepreneurs and contribute to the port's growth.
