Under UPA reign, Gujarat got Rs. 4.86 crore for tourist infra.

The Central Government has released Rs. 2,903.19 crore in the last three years since 2012-13 for development of tourism infrastructure in the country, of which around Rs. 4.86 crore were sanctioned for one project in Gujarat, while two tourism circuits have been identified in the state.

This was stated by Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge) in Rajya Sabha (RS) recently, in reply to the question raised by the member of RS Parimal Nathwani. The minister, in his reply, said that of the total 50 tourist circuits, two are in Gujarat and one is in Jharkhand.

The central government sanctioned Rs. 1,033.34 crore for the development of 153 tourism infrastructure projects in 2012-13, Rs. 1,664.85 crore for 226 projects in 2013-14 and Rs. 205 crore for 30 projects in current financial year, he said.
