Two Projects re-executed in Nangarhar

Jalalabad City: Two reconstruction projects were completed in Haska Mena and Jalalabad cities in the eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Tuesday.

Haska Mena district chief Hamesh Gul said they had built a 500 metres levee, costing more than two million afghanis provided by European Union (EU). The project will protect over 500 acres of land from floodwater.

Haji Mukaram Shinwari, a resident of the district, said their orchards were swept away by heavy summer floods in the region. However, he hoped with the construction of the protective wall, their crops would be saved from damage.

Similarly, a 1000-metre-long sidewalk was constructed in the Sherzai Stadium in the Jalalabad. Nangarhar governors spokesman Noor Agha Zwak said the project that accounted for $60,000 would benefit the citizens.
