Tata Motors Partners with Two Firms to Expand Charging Infrastructure for Electric Commercial Vehicles
Tata Motors announced recently that it has entered into a partnership with Delta Electronics India and Thunderplus Solutions to develop charging infrastructure for its range of electric commercial vehicles (CVs).
Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the parties, 250 new fast-charging stations will be established across the country. These stations will be strategically located in over 50 cities, including major hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi. This expansion will substantially enhance the current network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points, the company said in a statement.
Leveraging its expertise in the commercial EV sector, Tata Motors will recommend optimal locations and nearby dealerships for the new fast-charging stations. Delta Electronics will provide the necessary hardware, while Thunderplus Solutions will be responsible for installation and operations.
The growing adoption of commercial EVs by e-commerce companies, parcel services, and other industries for last-mile deliveries is driving the need for more extensive charging infrastructure.
Vinay Pathak, Vice President and Business Head of SCV & PU at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, stated, "Expanding the available charging infrastructure on high-use routes will encourage more customers to opt for electric commercial vehicles, improving vehicle uptime, leading to higher revenues, and contributing to a cleaner, greener environment."
Tata Motors currently offers the Ace EV model to meet various last-mile delivery needs. The model is supported by a network of over 150 electric vehicle service centers nationwide.
