Suguna’s facility in Bangalore to go on stream soon

Chennai: Coimbatore-based Suguna Poultry Farm is planning to foray into the ready-to-eat market in the next two months. Its manufacturing unit, being set up for the purpose in Bangalore with an investment of Rs 9 crore, will go on stream in 20 days.

B Soundararajan, managing director, Suguna Poultry Farm, said the facility would produce chicken lollipop and have an annual capacity of 6,000 tonnes. Similar manufacturing units would be set up across 11 states in the next 3-4 years, he added.

Meanwhile, Suguna on Wednesday launched its first franchise retail store in Chennai under the brand Suguna Daily Fresh at Anna Nagar. The company would open 40 such retail outlets in Chennai during this fiscal and 100-150 in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

These retail stores, opened exclusively for fresh chicken, would be soon converted into full meat shop, he said.

The company is also planning to increase its capacity in the Udumalpet unit to 2,000 tonnes from 1,000 a month.
