Sialkot-Gujranwala road construction work to begin soon

Sialkot: Construction work of the 46-km long Sialkot-Gujranwala road costing Rs 1.80 billion would start during current month, said District Nazim Sialkot Muhammad Akmal Cheema.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday evening he said Sialkot-Gujranwala via Daska four-lane double road would be constructed while a service road from Sialkot city to Matura would also be built.

Cheema said the completion of the road would help reduce road accidents as well as ensure smooth and safe journey to the people. The development work on seven major city roads have been completed under City Development Package costing Rs 650 million and local business community contributed 25 per cent of the cost, he added. Under the package more than Rs 518 million would be spent on the construction, widening and resurfacing of different city roads.
