PowerGrid bags Rs 192-cr order from NDMC

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) on Wednesday entered into two agreements with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for strengthening transmission system at an estimated cost of Rs 192 crore.

Under the agreements, PGCIL would be responsible for upgradation of electricity infrastructure in areas which fall under NDMC.

The contract involves construction and augmentation of 66 kV and 33 kV sub-stations, augmentation of transformer, and underground cabling.

“The step for agreement with Power Grid Corporation has been taken for improving efficiency in the NDMC area ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2010.

SCADA technology would help us see the faults anywhere in the area,” the Delhi Chief Minister, Ms Sheila Dikshit, told presspersons here. The orders would be completed within 30 months from the date of signing of the agreements, said the Power Minister, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde.
