PM Modi to Unveil ₹12,000 Crore Infrastructure Projects in Bihar, West Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to Bihar and West Bengal today, where he will lay foundation stones, inaugurate, and dedicate a wide array of development projects totaling over ₹12,000 crore. These initiatives span critical sectors including rail, road, energy, information technology, and rural development, aiming to bolster infrastructure and economic growth in both states.

Projects in Bihar: A ₹7,200 Crore Boost

At approximately 11:30 AM, Prime Minister Modi will participate in a public event in Motihari, Bihar, to kickstart projects worth over ₹7,200 crore. The focus areas include railways, roads, rural development, fisheries, electronics, and IT.

Railways Sector: The Prime Minister will dedicate several key railway projects to the nation, including:




  • Automatic signalling between Samastipur and Bachhwara rail line.

     



  • Doubling of the Darbhanga-Thalwara and Samastipur-Rambhadrapur rail lines, part of the ₹580 crore Darbhanga-Samastipur doubling project.

     





He will also lay the foundation stone for new railway initiatives:




  • Infrastructure for Vande Bharat train maintenance at Patliputra.

     



  • Automatic signalling on the Bhatni-Chhapra Gramin rail line.

     



  • Traction system upgrades in the Bhatni-Chhapra section.

     



  • The Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj doubling project, valued at approximately ₹4,080 crore.

     





Road Sector: In the road sector, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the 4-laning of the Ara bypass of NH-319, connecting NH-319 and NH-922. He will also inaugurate:



 




  • The 4-lane Parariya-Mohania section of NH-319, worth over ₹820 crore.

     



  • A 2-lane paved shoulder road from Sarwan to Chakai on NH-333C.

     





IT and Electronics: The Prime Minister will inaugurate a new Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facility at Darbhanga and an incubation centre at Patna. These facilities are designed to foster growth in IT/ITES and electronics startups and services.

Fisheries Sector: Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, he will launch various infrastructure projects including fish hatcheries, biofloc units, ornamental fish farms, integrated aquaculture units, and fish feed mills across Bihar.

New Train Services and Rural Development: PM Modi will flag off four new Amrit Bharat trains:




  • Rajendra Nagar Terminal (Patna) to New Delhi

     



  • Bapudham Motihari to Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal)

     



  • Darbhanga to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar)

     



  • Malda Town to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) via Bhagalpur

     





Furthermore, he will release ₹400 crore to approximately 61,500 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Bihar under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). He will also perform the "Griha Pravesh" for 12,000 households, symbolically handing over house keys to some beneficiaries, and release over ₹160 crore to 40,000 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin.

Projects in West Bengal: Over ₹5,000 Crore Investment

At around 3 PM, Prime Minister Modi will visit Durgapur, West Bengal, where he will address a public gathering and launch projects exceeding ₹5,000 crore in the oil and gas, power, road, and rail sectors.

Energy Sector: Key energy initiatives include:




  • Laying the foundation stone for a Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) City Gas Distribution project in Bankura and Purulia, valued at ₹1,950 crore.

     



  • Dedicating the Durgapur-Kolkata section (132 km) of the Durgapur-Haldia Natural Gas Pipeline, a part of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Project, worth over ₹1,190 crore.

     



  • Dedicating Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) systems installed at the Durgapur Steel Thermal Power Station and Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station of Damodar Valley Corporation, with a combined value of ₹1,457 crore.

     





Rail and Road Infrastructure: In the rail sector, the Prime Minister will dedicate the doubling of the 36-km Purulia–Kotshila rail line, a ₹390 crore project aimed at improving connectivity between Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ranchi, and Kolkata. He will also inaugurate two road overbridges under the Setu Bharatam programme, located at Topsi and Pandabeshwar in Paschim Bardhaman, constructed at a cost exceeding ₹380 crore.
