Planning Commission reviews PSDP 2008-09

Islamabad: The Planning Commission (PC) has been conducting for the last few weeks a review of the PSDP 2008-09 in consultations with the ministries and provinces. A major objective is to identify projects, which can be undertaken by or in partnership with the private sector.

The exercise is also to prioritise projects included in the current PSDP so as to ensure that the scarce resources are directed to national priorities. The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission M. Salman Faruqui started a series of meetings with the ministry of finance and chairman and CEO infrastructure development facility. This meeting was attended among others by secretaries of water and power, communication, railways, education, science and technology, heads of higher education commission and national highway authority. The meeting will continue on Saturday.

Secretary planning commission, members of the planning commission, chief economist and chiefs of sections also attended the meeting. The Parliamentary Secretary Mian Abdul Sattar and Ghulam Murtaza Satti, Advisor IPDF also participated in the meeting to identify projects, which can be included in the IPDF portfolio.
