"Oyster Renewable, Jindal Stainless Launch 315.6 MW Hybrid Project to Boost Industrial Decarbonisation"

Jindal Stainless, India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, and Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd have announced the part commissioning of a 315.6 MW solar-wind hybrid renewable energy project in Agar-Malwa, Madhya Pradesh. The project marks a major step in advancing clean energy adoption within India’s industrial sector.

Developed by Oyster Renewable with a total investment exceeding ₹2,000 crore, the project includes ₹132 crore committed by Jindal Stainless. It spans Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, generating approximately 216 MW of solar and wind power in Madhya Pradesh and 99 MW in Gujarat. Commissioning is being carried out in phases, starting with Madhya Pradesh.

The hybrid facility combines bifacial solar modules with trackers and Suzlon 3.15 MW wind turbines in a co-located design, ensuring a balanced renewable generation profile. The project is expected to help Jindal Stainless reduce its carbon emissions by around 6.5 lakh tonnes per year, supporting its transition to a cleaner and more resilient energy mix.

Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, said: “Our partnership with Oyster Renewable represents an important step in strengthening our clean energy portfolio and reducing the carbon intensity of our operations. Large-scale renewable collaborations like these will accelerate industrial decarbonisation across India.”

Siddharth Bhatia, MD & CEO of Oyster Renewable Energy, added: “This project demonstrates our ability to execute large-scale hybrid infrastructure with capital discipline and technological depth. Beyond clean energy delivery, we prioritized local workforce participation and community integration, creating long-term economic value.”

Once fully operational, the project will reinforce the importance of hybrid renewable solutions in providing reliable power to energy-intensive industries, highlighting the role of public-private partnerships in India’s clean energy transition.
