ONGC Gets Green Nod to Invest ₹8,110 Crore in Developing 172 Onshore Wells in Andhra Pradesh.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is set to invest ₹8,110 crore in the development and production of oil and gas from 172 onshore wells across eight Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) blocks in Andhra Pradesh.
The project has received a major boost after the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change recommended Environmental Clearance (EC) during a meeting held last month.
According to the minutes of the meeting, the estimated capital cost for the project is ₹8,110 crore. Of this, ₹172 crore has been earmarked for the Environment Management Plan (EMP), with a recurring annual cost of ₹91.16 crore. Additionally, ONGC has proposed to allocate ₹11 crore towards commitments made during the public hearing process.
The clearance paves the way for ONGC to move ahead with its onshore exploration and production activities in the state, aimed at boosting domestic energy output.
