MindTree sets up new COE for testing services
Bangalore: IT and R&D services provider MindTree Technologies said it has set up a new Centre of Excellence (COE) for its testing services using Hewlett-Packard’s application quality management tools at an initial investment of $100,000.
The company said investments would scale-up a good deal in the near future. The present amount has been spent in getting the licences for HP’s tools, it said.
The new centre would impart training to MindTree’s employees so that they are capable of handling the testing tools, said Mr Ananda Rao Ladi, Vice-President and Head, Testing Practice, MindTree. At present, there are around 20 people, but the number is expected to touch 400 by the end of the year, he added.
It would also be used to develop customised testing framework for MindTree’s clients. Mr Ladi said now that Mindtree is aware of HP’s roadmap in this sector, it would be able to offer solutions based on the latest tools developed by HP. It would also build proof-of-concepts around its solutions, he added.
He said the testing services unit focuses on two primary areas product testing and enterprise IT testing. Product testing comprises consumer appliances, communication devices and storage devices. In the enterprise IT testing, the top three verticals are travel and transportation, hi-tech, BFSI and manufacturing.
The centre would initially use quality management and functional testing solution HP Quality Centre and HP Performance Centre, a performance testing platform. It would also use the HP application Security Centre software, said Mr M.L. Sridhar, Marketing Manager, HP Software.
