Master plan prepared for New Town area
Kolkata: The Bhangar Rajarhat Area Development Authority (BRADA), which was formed to check the misuse of land in the areas adjoining Rajarhat have finalised the legal modalities and master plan for comprehensive development of 4,000 hectares on the periphery of the New Town.
Speaking on the sidelines of a press conference organised by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Sunil K Roy, member, board of directors & principal consultant, WBHIDCO, said, “ The master plan for the area falling on the eastern fringes of the New Town covering 4,000 hectares has been finalised and notification has been issued by the BRADA.'
The government agency was responsible for monitoring development activities in the zone and preparing a land use map and development patterns but a virtual land register for the area around New Town.
About 15 mouzas that fall under the jurisdiction of the Rajarhat police station come under the purview of the agency.
BRADA was to suggest a 25-year master plan for the peripheral areas of the New Town to prevent a collapse of the township infrastructure and affect the New Town's master plan because its emergence of had led promoters to cash in on the spin-offs on the fringes.
All infrastructure plans including roads, drainage in Bhangar and Rajarhat need to be cleared by the agency. Roy said, 'The area in this zone will not be acquired and developed by WBHIDCO itself, the legal plan will be only provided by WBHIDCO, the infrastructure development will be the onus of the private developer.'
