March 2015 Deadline for Connecting Road Projects.
The State Government recently set a time-frame for completion of construction works for the Nabakalebara festival of Lord Jagannath in June, 2015.
Works on all the roads leading to Puri from different places will have to be completed by March, 2015. The administrative departments concerned have been asked to monitor the weekly and monthly progress of work at the ground level.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the progress of different projects at a high level meeting at the Secretariat here. The project-wise progress of road projects like Biramitrapur-Jankia Road (39.60km), Gop-Balighai Road (18 km), Phulnakhara-Charichhak-Gop Road (54 km), Khurda-Pipili Road (22km), Pipili-Konark Road (44 km), Biraharekrushnapur-Balukhand Road (6.65 km), Malatipur-Balukhand road (6.65 km), Bhubaneswar-Puri NH, Puri by-pass NH, doubling of Jatni-Puri railway line, modification of Puri station to handle more visitors, and Khurda railway by-pass were reviewed at the meeting.
The access roads from four-lane national highway to various points in Puri town was also reviewed. Four connecting roads; from Loknath temple to Omkareswar temple, Gokhasahi to NH, Mangarajpur to NH Hospital Square-Kumbharapada NH have been taken up by Works Department for construction. Besides, around 20 roads inside the town have also been taken up for improvement.
