L&T power arm wins Rs. 1,400-cr deals from NTPC.

Larsen & Toubro’s power vertical has won two orders worth Rs. 1,400 crore from State-owned NTPC. The L&T unit will set up flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) systems at NTPC’s Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Plant in Madhya Pradesh, and at Darlipali Super Thermal Power Project in Odisha, a company statement said.

Installation of FGD systems at thermal power plants has been made mandatory by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change , to curtail SO2 emissions, it said. For the projects, L&T will use FGD technology of Japan’s Chiyoda Corp.
