Lanka: Siemens gets CEB order

New Delhi: Global infrastructure major Siemens said it's energy division has received a Rs 2 billion (euro 31 million) order from Sri Lanka's state power company Ceylon Electricity Board for the upgradation of Colombo's distribution network.

'The company has a Rs 2 billion (euro 31 million) order from Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), its largest till date, for the upgradation of Colombo's distribution network,' a company release said.
Siemens work includes augmentation of sub-station, supply, installation and commissioning of the equipment which would be manufactured at the company's India and Germany units. Laying of over 200 km of cables would also be done by the company.
The company is also delivering a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system for the load dispatch centre which will gather data from 251 substations and connect them to a centralised distribution control center providing real time information at single point for effective monitoring and control of the power network.

It would also train technical personnel locally and also ensure that regular power supply is maintained during the implementation of the network conversion project.
