KSEB signs pact with pvt producer
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has signed an agreement with Viyyat Power (Pvt) Ltd for the purchase of power from a small hydel project being set up by the latter at Vellathooval panchayat in Idukki district.
The project will have an installed capacity of three megawatt with the potential to generate 11.85 million units of electricity. It is being set up on build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of 30 years.
Rs 2.40 per unit
The company will supply electricity to KSEB at a `levalised' tariff of Rs 2.40 per unit during the period.
The project is slated to be commissioned within two years and is estimated to cost Rs 15 crore. After the completion of 30 years, the project will come under KSEB.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the Electricity Minister, Mr A.K. Balan, here on Thursday.
The Vellathooval project is one of the 12 small hydel projects cleared by the Government in 2004 for allotment to private companies on BOOT basis.
