APIIC allots land to 19 cos in Biotech Park Phase III
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has allotted land to 19 companies so far in the Biotech Park Phase III at Karakpatla, Medak district.
Over the next five years, over Rs 13,675 crore is likely to be invested by these companies as per the commitment given to the Government, Ms J Greta Reddy, Minister for Major Industries, Andhra Pradesh Government said.
Out of 600 acres made available for Biotech Park Phase III, 243 acres have been allotted, the Minister said, adding that the investment would lead to significant employment generation.
The biotech companies such as Avesthagen Ltd (40 acres), Indian Immunologicals Ltd (50 acres), Neozene Biosciences, Parsvanath SEZ Ltd (25 acres), Brinda Life Sciences and Globion India Pvt Ltd have been allotted land.
The Sixth Edition of Andhra Pradesh Government’s flagship biotech event Bio Asia 2009 would be formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on February 1 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) here.
He would also present the Genome Valley Excellence Award to Prof Marc Van Montagu, Founder-Chairman, and Institute of Plant Biotechnology for Developing Countries, Belgium and Dr Martin Mackay, President (Global R&D), Pfizer, USA.
The conference would focus on agricultural biotechnology, Mr B S Bajaj, Convenor of Bio Asia 2009, said.
For the first time, biotech industries participating in the conference would be given an opportunity to make presentations on their products.
“In order to encourage students at intermediate/equivalent level to take research in biotechnology, the Young Minds Awards have been introduced from this year,” he said.
