"JSW Renew Energy Begins Phase-wise Commissioning of 810 MW SECI-IX Wind Power Project in Tamil Nadu
JSW Renew Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has initiated the phase-wise commissioning of the 810 MW ISTS-connected Wind Power Project awarded under SECI tranche IX in Tamil Nadu. The company has commissioned the first phase, contributing 51 MW to the total capacity. The project holds a power purchase agreement with SECI for a duration of 25 years.
Following this development, the cumulative installed capacity of JSW Energy now stands at 6,822 MW, with an additional under-construction capacity of 2,969 MW expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 12 months.
Prashant Jain, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, expressed his satisfaction, stating, "We are happy to announce that we have started commissioning of the SECI-IX wind project, which is the first and the largest greenfield wind capacity secured by the company. With this, JSW Energy is well placed to achieve the targeted 10 GW generation capacity by the end of CY2024."
JSW Energy has set ambitious targets for the future, aiming to reach a generation capacity of 20 GW and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. With the current total capacity of 9.8 GW, the company is on track to achieve its near-term target of 10 GW by 2025. Additionally, JSW Energy has secured 3.4 GWh of energy storage capacity through a battery energy storage system and a hydro-pumped storage project. The company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 50% by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050."
