HCLTech Leads ₹1,427-Crore Investment in Sarvam AI.
Noida-based HCLTech recently announced an investment of $150 million (about ₹1,427 crore) in Sarvam AI, becoming the lead strategic investor in the artificial intelligence startup. The move is aimed at strengthening the AI ecosystem in India and expanding its capabilities globally.
In a regulatory filing, HCLTech said it will acquire 41,421 equity shares of Sarvam AI, representing a 10.46 per cent stake in the company, through a 100 per cent cash consideration. The total investment amounts to ₹1,427.25 crore.
The investment comes as Sarvam AI closes the first tranche of its Series B funding round. The company has raised $234 million (around ₹2,218.61 crore) in the first close of its planned $300 million Series B round, achieving a post-money valuation of $1.5 billion.
