GMDC signs 14 MoUs for various projects

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation has entered into 14 agreements worth Rs 8,750 crore with different companies in the recently held Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2009 (VGGIS).

The MoUs inked in the summit is for various projects like coal washery plants, silica sand beneficiation, fluorospar beneficiation and exploitation plants, integrated coke oven plants, specialty aluminium chemicals and a cement plant.

According to a senior official in the GMDC, basic details are being worked out currently so that implementation of these projects can begin.

He added that by 2010, GMDC in joint venture with Jaypee group will set up a cement plant having capacity of 2.4 million ton per annum (MTPA), with an investment of Rs 1,050 crore in Kutch.
