East Coast Railway (ECoR) has issued a tender for the construction of the new Rayagada railway division office at Rayagada station. This move comes after the Centre allocated ₹70 crore for the establishment of the division.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on July 26 that the budget for the project has been approved and that the design phase is nearing completion, with construction set to begin soon.
The tender, released on Friday, covers the construction of the Divisional Railway Manager's (DRM) office, staff quarters, and additional supporting facilities. The new division will be situated on approximately 125.78 acres across six locations near Rayagada railway station along NH-326. The DRM office itself will span 14.3 acres and will include amenities such as a walking track, parking area, and a driver's restroom.
ECoR stated that the new division aims to improve connectivity and support regional development, reflecting the government's commitment to modernizing infrastructure and enhancing public services. The creation of the Rayagada division was initially approved on July 17, 2019, but faced delays in infrastructure development, sources said.
