CM Stalin Launches ₹1,500 Crore Non-Leather Footwear Project in Tamil Nadu, Creating 25,000 Jobs.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin virtually inaugurated the ₹1,500 crore non-leather footwear manufacturing unit by Taiwan’s Hong Fu Industrial Group at SIPCOT Panapakkam Industrial Park in Ranipet District. The new facility is set to create 25,000 jobs.

In November 2022, Hong Fu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government for the project, with approximately 200 acres of land allocated for its development.

According to a government press release, Hong Fu is the world's second-largest manufacturer of non-leather footwear and a leading producer of sports shoes for major brands such as Nike and Puma. The company designs, develops, manufactures, and sells sports footwear globally.

State Industries Minister TRB Rajaa highlighted the launch as another significant milestone for Tamil Nadu’s non-leather footwear sector, emphasizing that this is a key achievement from the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (GIM) 2024, turning MoUs into real employment opportunities for the state.
