Chennai Metro Rail attracts 73 bidders
Chennai: Chennai Metro Rail has attracted 73 national and international bidders to discuss the package of contracts, the type and scope of each of the contracts and qualification criteria.
Various suggestions for packaging of contracts, contract management and cost reduction were received from the bidders, according to a press release from Chennai Metro.
Chennai Metro Rail Project consists of two corridors partly elevated and underground and costs Rs 11,124 crore. Contracts for this project are classified into two major categories civil and system.
A meeting assessed the potential of contracting firms having experience in construction of similar works and to decide on the size and type of packages to be tendered, said Mr Syed Munir Hoda, Chairman, Chennai Metro Rail, in a press release.
Mr Tetsutaro Kon, representing Japan International Co-operation Agency, explained the procurement procedures of the agency.
He informed that the loan agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Japan was signed on November 11, in Tokyo.
The Chennai Metro Rail has retained the services of Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services for inviting national and international bidders who have executed similar works, to indicate their interest in bidding for the project along with their credentials such as line of business, financial turnover, net worth, capabilities, value of similar works executed year-wise in the last 10 years and support facilities, the release said.
