Aluva town devpt project still on paper.

Atkins, the British agency which has offered technical aid for implementing Smart City project free of cost, had prepared a project for the development of Aluva town. Though the project report, which focused on proper urban design, solid waste management, transportation and drainage facilities, was handed over to the civic body in August, it remains on paper.

Of the projects included in 'Framework for Future-Proofing Aluva', the draft document for improving key urban sectors prepared by Atkins, the civic authorities have set up a few e-toilets at various locations in the town. 'We couldn't start other projects as elections were announced in October. The new council will take measures to implement the projects,' said Jeby Mather, a councillor who was also there in the last council.

The British High Commission had decided to provide technical aid for improving urban infrastructure in Aluva following discussion held between chief minister Oommen Chandy and Prince of Wales in November 2013.
