Work on road construction begins in Laghman
Mehtarlam: Construction work on a nine kilometres long road launched in the eastern Laghman province.
Eng. Sahil provincial public works director said that the road will connect Islamabad, Salab areas and Alishang district and will cost a total of about 800,000 US dollars provided by US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Construction of the road that will be constructed by Local Governance and Capacity Development (LGCD) was demanded by the area people, he added.
Eng. Muhammad Yousuf Saber regional director of LGCD said the project will provide job opportunities to over 70 laborers. He added over 24 small bridges and a supportive wall will be constructed alongside the road.
In the neighbouring Nangarhar work on another projects got underway early this morning, an official said. Eng. Ahmad Wali Hakimi, director of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (RRD) department said work on a community centre launched in Mian Ali Baba area of Behsood district. The project will cost one million afghanis, he explained.
