Work on five new power houses starts in Northern Areas

Skardu: Federal government is taking keen interest in the development of hydel power generation to meet growing energy demands in Northern Areas, official sources said.

Three power houses of 42MW, 28MW and 10MW would be constructed at Hepro, Basho and Shagharthang respectively in Skardu district. While, 1MW power station would be constructed at Hassanabad at a cost of Rs 60 million and 2MW power generation unit would be established in Ghangche district at a cost of Rs 170 million, the sources added.
