Wind Equipment Manufacturers’ Association Urges Oil Ministry on LPG Availability.

Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) has urged the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to ensure a continuous and reliable supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the manufacturing of wind turbine components.

The apex industry body representing the wind energy sector said that manufacturers of critical wind turbine components—including castings, forgings, towers and other structural parts—depend heavily on propane/LPG for high-temperature industrial processes such as melting, heat treatment and fabrication.

In a letter to the ministry on Tuesday, IWTMA said any disruption or volatility in gas supply could directly affect manufacturing operations and delay production schedules. Such disruptions may also impact the broader pipeline of renewable energy projects that rely on timely supply of wind turbine components.
