Whirlpool freezes expansion plans amid poor demand.

Whirlpool has put on hold its plans to expand manufacturing facilities in India due to poor demand growth. The US-based home appliances maker will, instead, source products from China and Europe to support new launches, top officials said.

The company has deferred plans to expand capacity for its two main product lines — refrigerators and washing machines - and put on hold plans to locally manufacture air-conditioners and water purifiers, Shantanu Dasgupta, vice-president at Whirlpool India, said.
