Waaree Energies begins trial production at Gujarat solar cell manufacturing unit.
Waaree Energies Ltd, one of India’s largest solar PV module manufacturers, has officially commenced trial production at its cutting-edge 5.4 GW solar cell manufacturing unit in Chikhli, Gujarat. This facility, with a capacity of 5.4 GW, is now the largest advanced solar cell manufacturing plant in India, according to a company statement released recently.
Dr. Amit Paithankar, Whole-time Director & CEO of Waaree Energies, described the launch of trial production as a significant achievement, reinforcing India’s renewable energy goals. “Our move towards backward integration aligns with India’s vision to reduce reliance on imports and build a self-sustaining solar supply chain,” Paithankar said. He emphasized that the new facility is not only focused on technological innovation but also plays a key role in boosting employment and driving sustainability within the sector.
The Chikhli plant reflects Waaree Energies’ commitment to advancing solar technology, contributing to the country’s renewable energy aspirations while fostering economic growth through a focus on sustainable practices.
