Vitesse Semiconductor expanding operations here
Hyderabad: Semiconductor design services provider Vitesse today announced plans to expand its Indian operations based in Hyderabad where it plans to invest $3 million during the fiscal year.
The company, which has recently restructured its operations, also hinted at an investment of about $6 million in 2009, $9 million a year later and $12 million in 2011.
The Chief Executive Officer of Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation, Mr Christopher R. Gardner, said following the company’s post-restructuring process, it exited storage related business and the focus has been shifted to Ethernet technologies for the networking industry. The Hyderabad centre is now being re-groomed to address new areas of business.
Focussed biz strategy
Addressing a press conference here today, along with Mr Ravi Pattisam, Managing Director of Vitesse in India, Mr Gardner said that Asia Pacific business now contributed to about $40 per cent of the company’s revenues of about $240 million, and now requires a more focussed business strategy.
As a part of this move, while the company is strengthening its R&D centre in Hyderabad, it has added centres in Beijing and additional offices in Shenzhen and Japan and has inducted the services of Nu Horizon for distribution of its product range.
The Indian Design Centre would focus on enterprise and carrier networking that would enable Vitesse to deploy more products into the fast growing networking market where broadband is expected to play a big role.
It has deployed several multi-million gate integrated circuit products in a variety of technologies for chips and storage industry as part of Adaptec.
