Vedanta Secures Preferred Bidder Position for Strategic Bauxite Block.

Vedanta Ltd has been declared the preferred bidder for the Karnapodikonda bauxite block in Odisha, the company said recently. The designation follows the live e-auction process conducted by the Directorate of Mines and Geology, Government of Odisha, under its Notice Inviting Tender dated December 4, 2025.

Vedanta qualified at the initial bid stage and participated in the subsequent e-auction. The official Declaration of Preferred Bidder notification was received by the company on February 27, 2026, at 4:20 pm IST.

The Karnapodikonda bauxite block, covering 532.747 hectares, is at G2 level of exploration. The block is expected to support Vedanta’s strategic backward integration in its aluminium business, reinforcing its supply chain for raw materials.
