Various metro projects behind schedule: Government.

Various ongoing metro projects including those in Bangalore and Chennai are running behind schedule, Lok Sabha was informed recently.

Some of the ongoing metro projects being implemented on 50:50 equity sharing joint venture between the Centre and the concerned state governments are running behind schedule, Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo said in a written reply in the House.

Delhi Metro Phase-III extensions project, Bangalore Metro Phase-I, Chennai Metro Rail Project are running behind schedule.

Delhi Metro Phase-III extensions project, originally scheduled to be completed by March 2015, is expected to be completed by December 2016.

Bangalore Metro Phase-I project, scheduled to be completed by December 2013, is expected to be completed by December 2015.

According to the original schedule, Chennai Metro Rail Project, was to be finished by March 2015, but now the expected completion is by December 2016.

Delay in getting land and permission for cutting trees are some of the reasons for the delay.
